Trump Calls Democrats ‘Vicious, Horrible People’ at Ohio Rally

At his first rally of 2020, President Donald Trump lashed out at members of the Democratic Party in the midst of remarks that touched on a variety of topics and featured some of the usual Trump talking points and bluster. The President was speaking in Toledo, Ohio at his first campaign event since the crisis with Iran began.

“They are vicious, horrible people. I didn’t use to say that,” Trump said of the Democrats. “They are horrible people.”

Social media users were quick to point out the hypocrisy of Trump tarring all Democrats with one brush. He and his supporters have made hay with the fact that Hillary Clinton referred to some of his voters as ‘deplorables’ in 2016.

There were more than 44 million registered Democrats in the United States as of 2018, while the Democrats won a historic victory in the last midterm elections, retaking the House of Representatives. But this is a typical way for Trump to lash out at his political opponents.

The President’s campaign rhetoric is expected to grow more and more inflammatory as the year goes on and the November election approaches.
