Sanders’ Campaign Raises $34.5 Million in Fourth Quarter, Likely Outpacing Rivals

Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign raised $34.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2019. The impressive fundraising haul could see him leading the Democratic field in terms of money going into a crucial stage of the presidential primaries.

“Bernie Sanders is closing the year with the most donations of any candidate in history at this point in a presidential campaign,” Sanders’ campaign manager Faiz Shakir said.

“He is proving each and every day that working-class Americans are ready and willing to fully fund a campaign that stands up for them and takes on the biggest corporations and the wealthy,” Shakir went on.

“You build a grassroots movement to beat Donald Trump and create a political revolution one $18 donation at a time, and that’s exactly why Bernie is going to win.”

The Sanders campaign has received 1.8 million donations over the last three months and December was reportedly their best fundraising month ever. The numbers are welcome news for Sanders, who is eschewing big money donors and consistently emphasizing his small money donations.

Not all the Democratic candidates have announced their fourth quarter numbers yet. Sanders leads Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who raised $24.7 million, and Andrew Yang, with $16.5 million. Though other leading contenders former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren have yet to reveal their figures, Sanders looks likely to lead the pack.
