Mike Huckabee Blames the Education System for Hanukkah Stabbings

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has blamed the U.S. education system for the stabbing of five people during Hanukkah. The Republican told the Fox Business Network that a culture of ‘me’ had contributed to the killings and also took the opportunity to defend guns.

Huckabee discussed the attack at a Rabbi’s house at the beginning of the segment, before moving on to blast impeachment. Though he talked about a spiritual conflict in the country, at no point did he or the hosts mention Antisemitism.

“Well, I think it is, we stop blame game,” Huckabee said. “Because you have people saying oh, we just get rid of guns,  we’d be fine. Well it was a machete used in Hanukkah shooting [sic] and if it was a gun that stopped what would have been a horrifically worse murder situation in the church.

“So it’s not weapons of choice, it’s the lack of heart, it’s the lack of focus in human beings, and when we have an education system that, from the time kids are tots, tells them there is nothing really right nor wrong, it’s whatever they think it is, whatever they feel it is, whatever they believe it is”

“And that results in an adult becoming, where they also think they don’t have to tune lives,” Huckabee said. “Real quickly, let me just mention, as a musician, I know this: that before you play song you gotta tune your instrument. What do you tune it to? Do you tune it to what you think? No, you tune it to a standard.”

“We are a culture and society that is not tuning to any standard other than what we want. We’re selfish. We’ve sat around we’ve created this culture in which it is all about me, and that is a  dangerous place for us to continue going.”

There has been a significant rise in Antisemitism since President Donald Trump took office, while both he and some of his defenders have been accused of spreading Antisemitic rhetoric.
