Elizabeth Warren Plans to Slam Biden and Buttigieg for ‘Counting on Republican Politicians’

Senator Elizabeth Warren plans to make a speech taking aim at former Vice President Joe Biden and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The Massachusetts Democrat will harshly criticize both men, who are seen as two major obstacles to her winning the nomination.

Though she won’t name them, it will be obvious who her remarks are about.

“Unlike some candidates for the Democratic nomination, I’m not counting on Republican politicians having an epiphany and suddenly supporting the kinds of tax increases on the rich or big business accountability they have opposed under Democratic presidents for a generation,” Warren will say.

“Unlike some candidates for the Democratic nomination, I’m not betting my agenda on the naïve hope that if Democrats adopt Republican critiques of progressive policies or make vague calls for unity that somehow the wealthy and well-connected will stand down,” her speech will say.

Biden has previously suggested that he’ll be able to work with Republicans once Trump is out of office, while Buttigieg has also suggested building a more bipartisan consensus.

Warren will also criticize former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

“It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Michael Bloomberg trying to buy the Democratic presidential nomination,” she’ll say, echoing a criticism that has been levied before.
