Law Professor Rips Republican Rep. Doug Collins for Suggesting She Hasn’t Read Impeachment Transcripts

A witness before the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearing took aim at Republican Congressman Doug Collins on Wednesday. In his opening statement, Collins suggested that the four witnesses – all legal scholars – had not been following the testimony in the impeachment inquiry so could not be helpful.

Stanford Law Professor Pamela Karlan departed from her prepared opening statement to address Collins’ claim.

“I would like to say to you, sir, that I read transcripts,” Karlans said. “I would not speak about these things without reviewing the facts, so I’m insulted by the suggestion that as a law professor I don’t care about those facts.”

Collins appeared to want to respond to Karlan but said nothing as she was making her opening statement, though he may do so at a later stage. So far, Karlan has been a stand out witness, while two of the other legal scholars have also testified that impeachable offenses have been committed.

Republican witness Prof. Jonathan Turley was the lone witness who claimed Trump hadn’t done anything impeachable.
