Nikki Haley Says Trump Was Truthful ‘In Every Instance That I Dealt With Him’

Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley has said that President Donald Trump was truthful with her whenever she dealt with him. In an interview with NBC News TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie, Haley claimed that the President was always honest with her.

Guthrie asked Haley if he believed Trump was a truthful person.

“Yes, in every instance that I dealt with him, he was truthful, he listened and he was great to work with,” Haley said. “I never had any concerns on whether he could handle the job ever.”

Haley’s comments fly in the face of Trump’s daily barrage of lies, both on Twitter and in person. The Washington Post has counted more than 13,000 of Trump’s lies since he took office.

Haley also said that the public should decide the President’s fate, opposing the ongoing impeachment inquiry into serious wrongdoing regarding military aid to Ukraine.

“I have made up my mind. Impeachment is literally the worst punishment you can do to a public official,” Haley said.

“Impeachment is serious. It’s the most serious thing you can do to a President. The other side of this is we are less than a year away from the election. Instead, let the people decide. Let them hear the testimony, that’s fine, but let them decide.”

Haley offered very little criticism of Trump’s Ukraine call, which others, including former Republicans, have strongly denounced as an attempt to extort a foreign government.

“I think it’s never a good practice for us to ask a foreign country to investigate an American. It’s just not a good practice,” Haley said. “Having said that, there’s no insistence on that call. There are no demands on that call. It is a conversation between two Presidents that’s casual in nature.”
