Trump Wanted to Build a Glass Megachurch in 2006

President Donald Trump once planned to build a megachurch, according to his long-time pastor. Paula White-Cain says Trump wanted to build a glass cathedral in 2006 but ultimately the project didn’t pan out. It would have been quite a different construction project.

“He wanted to build a house of God,” White-Cain said. “He said, ‘Let’s do this, let’s build this before we’re too old.”

According to a report in the Washington Examiner: “Trump had an architect in place and was eager to have her take charge of the church, but White-Cain said the timing wasn’t right for her. At the time, her ministry was on nine TV networks, and she was heading to a divorce from her second husband in 2007.”

“It was part of a dream,” White-Cain says. She is promoting a new book in which she talks about Trump and his faith.

“He said, ‘Let’s build a crystal cathedral for God,” White-Cain said.

Trump remains very popular among Evangelical Christians, though his own faith has frequently been called into question. His notorious flub involving 2 Corinthians went viral.

A megachurch would have been an unusual venture even for Trump, who has often bragged about his real estate prowess.
