Lindsey Graham Invites Rudy Giuliani to Testify to the Senate on Ukraine

Senator Lindsey Graham has said he will invite Rudy Giuliani to testify before the Senate. The South Carolina Republican is Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and said on Twitter that he would allow Trump’s personal lawyer to appear before them.

Have heard on numerous occasions disturbing allegations by Rudy Giuliani about corruption in Ukraine and the many improprieties surrounding the firing of former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin,” Graham said.

“Given the House of Representatives’ behavior, it is time for the Senate to inquire about corruption and other improprieties involving Ukraine. Therefore I will offer to Mr. Giuliani the opportunity to come before the Senate Judiciary Committee to inform the committee of his concerns.”

Giuliani’s concerns are largely based on conjecture and even conspiracy theories. The former New York mayor is pushing for investigations of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, whom, he claims, behaved corruptly in Ukraine. There is absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing.

Graham’s willingness to entertain Giuliani’s unfounded theories in the Senate is most likely a sign to President Donald Trump that he will remain loyal amid the ongoing impeachment inquiry by the House of Representatives. Graham’s announcement comes on the same day as Trump ordered Ambassador Gordon Sondland not to testify before the House and the State Department was accused of withholding text messages relevant to the inquiry.
