Elizabeth Warren Blasts Facebook’s ‘Illegal’ Practices Following Leaked Zuckerberg Audio

Senator Elizabeth Warren has slammed Facebook after leaked audio showed CEO Mark Zuckerberg criticizing her plan to break up big tech companies. The Massachusetts senator is performing well in the Democratic presidential race and is a long-time consumer advocate.

“If she gets elected president, then I would bet that we will have a legal challenge, and I would bet that we will win the legal challenge. And does that still suck for us? Yeah. I mean, I don’t want to have a major lawsuit against our own government,” Zuckerberg said during an internal company Q&A.

The audio was released to The Verge and Warren responded on Twitter on Tuesday, appearing to mock Zuckerberg and doubling down on her plan to break up his company.

“What would really ‘suck’ is if we don’t fix a corrupt system that lets giant companies like Facebook engage in illegal anticompetitive practices, stomp on consumer privacy rights, and repeatedly fumble their responsibility to protect our democracy,” Warren wrote.

Warren went on to say that Facebook wasn’t the only major tech company in her sights and she took the opportunity to share her plan for breaking up big tech.
