Acting DNI Reportedly Threatened to Quit If White House Attempted to Force Him to Stonewall Congress

The hits just keep on coming.

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that acting Director of National Intelligence Joesph Maguire threatened to resign if the White House didn’t allow him to speak freely during his scheduled Congressional testimony on Thursday over the whistleblower complaint against President Trump that’s now at the center of the House’s impeachment inquiry.

According to the Post’s sources, Maguire told the White House that he is not willing to stonewall Congress on any information they are seeking related to the whistleblower’s complaint, which allegedly involves Trump urging Ukraine to open an investigation into Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his family.

Officials also told the Post that Maguire was “serving notice” to the administration he was going to be forthright with Congress unless the White House threatened a legal case against him.

This latest revelation about the DNI and the whistleblower complaint comes on the heels of the White House’s release of a memo detailing Trump’s July 25 call with the Ukrainian president in which he asked Zelensky to “do me a favor” while bringing up the Bidens and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani’s attempts to get an investigation into them reopened.
