Fox Analyst Claims It Would’ve Been ILLEGAL If Trump Didn’t Ask Ukraine to Investigate Biden

It was no surprise that pro-Trump media was unhappy that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday that the House is launching an impeachment inquiry of President Trump for allegedly pressuring a foreign leader to investigate his political rival. The outrage was a-plenty over on Fox News.

But the kicker occurred on the highest-rated cable news show, Fox’s Hannity.

During a panel discussion on the whistleblower complaint at the center of the possible impeachment of Trump, Fox News analyst Gregg Jarrett claimed that the president was actually legally bound to ask the Ukrainian government to open an investigation into Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his family.

“The whistleblower is not a whistleblower,” Jarrett exclaimed. “You can’t blow the whistle on the president because he’s not a member of the intelligence committee. That’s what the law says.”

Claiming that Pelosi can’t “comprehend the law” when it comes to the intelligence community’s whistleblower complaint, Jarrett then said that Trump was following the Constitution when he pressured Ukraine about Biden.

“The president is duty-bound under the take care clause of the Constitution,” he stated. “If he knows of a particularly corrupt act by a vice president trying to extort a foreign country to shut down a probe that involves his son.”

“The president is duty-bound to ask that foreign country, investigate, produce the evidence, give it to us,” Jarrett added. “If he doesn’t do it, it is a dereliction of his constitutional duty!”

Host Sean Hannity, the president’s “shadow chief of staff,” added to Jarrett’s response that “the president had a legal responsibility in lieu of the fact that Russia tried to influence our elections,” essentially saying that it is legally necessary to dig up foreign dirt on your political rivals because Russia.
