Ben Shapiro Actually Says No ‘Single Major Republican Figure’ Questioned Obama’s Legitimacy

Apparently forgetting that President Trump launched his political career years ago by publicly questioning that then-President Barack Obama was born in the United States, conservative pundit Ben Shapiro credulously claimed on Monday that he was unaware of a “single major Republican figure” who said Obama wasn’t a legitimate president.

“I’m not aware of a single major Republican figure who said the Barack Obama was not the legitimate President of the United States,” he asserted in a segment first noticed by Media Matters. “Despite the fact that Democrats have claimed that George W. Bush was illegitimate. They’ve claimed that Donald Trump is illegitimate.”

Shapiro added: “So this is just not true! And doubts about Barack Obama’s belief system came from Barack Obama being an extraordinarily radical figure. Barack Obama said he wanted to fundamentally transform the country. That’s a pretty radical statement!”
