‘The Jews Always Flip’: Michael Wolff Reports Trump Was Furious at Advisors’ Plea Deals

President Trump reportedly made an antisemitic comment in response to Jewish associates making deals to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Michael Wolff says in his new book Siege: Trump Under Fire that Trump complained “The Jews always flip” when informed that his former lawyer Michael Cohen, American Media CEO David Pecker and Trump Organization chief financial officer Alan Weisselberg all made cooperating witness plea deals with Mueller’s office and other prosecutors investigating the president.

The Guardian reports that the remark is one of several shocking Trump comments Wolff writes about in Siege. Salty presidential statements were also a feature of Fire and Fury, Wolff’s previous book purporting to be an inside look at the chaos that is day-to-day life in the Trump administration.

Wolff also reports that the special counsel’s office drew up a draft indictment charging Trump with three criminal counts of witness tampering and obstruction of justice, but ultimately decided not to file them.

This claim led the special counsel’s office to issue a rare statement denying Wolff’s reporting.

Wolff’s credibility has been at issue before, particularly around the release of Fire and Fury. “The Jews always flip” is almost too perfect a quote from a president who has been accused of harboring sympathies for antisemites and having made antisemitic comments of his own for decades.
