Sarah Sanders Claims Democrats ‘Literally’ Have Done Nothing, Ignores All the Bills They Passed

The White House sent its mouthpieces out Thursday morning to spin President Trump’s Wednesday temper tantrum, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not disappoint.

The White House press secretary told Alisyn Camerota on CNN’s New Day that when the president says he will not negotiate on infrastructure with Democrats so long as they are investigating him on other matters, it means that it is Democrats who are incapable of doing both.

The president “laid out, look, it’s real simple, you can’t go down two tracks. We are either going to have to agree that we want to solve problems for the country, we want to come together, we want to work together…or we can fight,” Sanders said.

“Congress says they can do two things at once,” Camerota responded. “The Democrats in Congress say this isn’t a problem. So is the president saying he can’t do infrastructure while he’s being investigated?”

“I think it’s a complete lie that Democrats in Congress think they can do two things at once,” Sanders responded.

The press secretary went on to criticize Democrats for “literally [not] getting anything done” since they took over the majority in the House in January. When Camerota pointed out that the House has passed 248 bills in that time, Sanders dismissed it because none of them were “significant.”

Actually, some of them were very significant. The first bill the House passed in January was an enormous anti-corruption bill that Republicans fought against pretty hard. They have also passed bills reviving net neutrality and one aimed at lowering the price of prescription drugs.

In fact, of the ten top priorities they identified coming into office four months ago, the Democrats have passed bills addressing five of them. All while ramping up investigations of the Trump administration across a vast swath of committees.

In other words, investigating and legislating is not the problem for Democrats. And anyone who watched Trump’s little meltdown on Wednesday knows this. But Sanders is paid to give it a shot anyway.
