Trump Refers to Fox News as ‘We’ While Raging Against ‘Crazy Bernie’ Town Hall

As Fox News openly appeals to the Democratic National Committee to change their mind and not shut them out from the 2020 Democratic primary debates, President Trump took to Twitter Tuesday morning to blast the network for holding a town hall event with Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders while referring to the network as “we.”

“So weird to watch Crazy Bernie on @FoxNews,” Trump tweeted. “Not surprisingly, @BretBaier and the “audience” was so smiley and nice. Very strange, and now we have @donnabrazile?”

Obviously, from the tweet, it appears that Trump believes the audience for the town hall was fake, likely due to the amount of applause and boisterous response Sanders received for his positions. Trump also took aim at anchor Bret Baier, indicating that he didn’t think Baier was nearly tough enough on the Vermont senator. (The fact of the matter, however, is that both Baier and MacCallum were quite combative with the democratic socialist, much to the crowd’s chagrin.)

The president also appears to be upset over the recent hiring of former DNC chair Donna Brazile as a network contributor, wondering why “now we have” her at Fox News.

Of course, the president using “we” to describe Fox News only reinforces recent reports by the New Yorker and New York Times — that Fox News and the Trump administration are closely entwined and the network works as a state-run media agency for the White House.
