Sarah Huckabee Sanders Dodges Question on Mueller Report by Calling Democrats ‘Sore Losers’

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders marshaled a defense of President Trump Thursday morning amid new reporting that members of Robert Mueller’s team are upset with William Barr for holding back many of the special counsel’s conclusions in the Russia investigation.

That defense can be summarized as: Pffffft, Democrats.

On Fox & Friends, Brian Kilmeade quoted a report from The New York Times that said “the [Mueller] report was more damaging than Attorney General Barr revealed.” He then asked the press secretary for her reaction.

“I think it’s the same one we’ve had all along,” Huckabee Sanders replied. “Democrats continue to show, day in and day out, that they are nothing but sore losers.”

Note that this answer in no way responds to the actual charge brought up by Kilmeade. Nor does Huckabee Sanders attempt to even reference the Barr summary of the Mueller report, which Trump and his defenders have been using to crow that the president has been “totally vindicated” by the special counsel.

Reportedly, White House aides were popping champagne in their offices after the Barr memo was released less than two weeks ago. On Thursday, Huckabee Sanders couldn’t be bothered to even invoke it as evidence of exoneration. Rather, she went right to the name-calling.

Huckabee Sanders continued, “At some point, they have to realize that they have been beat by President Trump in the 2016 election, they’re getting beat by him day in and day out on issues that actually matter.”

It has been only five months since Democrats won huge gains in the 2018 midterms partly on the issue of improving healthcare while the Trump administration is reduced to making vague promises about an Obamacare replacement to be revealed after the 2020 election. To mention just one issue that matters where Trump seems to think he’s beating Democrats. But okay.
