Sarah Sanders: Ask Democrats If Trump Really Believes Democrats Hate Jews

During the first White House press briefing in 42 days, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to definitively answer questions on President Trump’s repeated recent claims that Democrats are an “anti-Jewish party” and that Democrats literally hate Jews.

After brushing aside the question initially while invoking Republicans’ eventual condemnation of Rep. Steve King’s (R-IA) racism to hit Democrats for not censuring Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) — and rightly getting pressed on Trump’s continued silence on King — MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson circled back in an effort to get Sanders to address the issue.

“I have a question and follow up to a colleague because I didn’t hear you actually answer the question, so yes or no,” Jackson stated. “Does the president truly believe that Democrats hate Jews?”

Sanders replied that she wasn’t going to comment on a “potentially leaked item,” prompting Jackson to grill Sanders on Trump’s remarks and if she can simply answer if Trump believes Democrats hate Jewish people. After snapping at Jackson that she needs to “stop talking,” Sanders gave the following response:

“The president has laid out clearly his position on this matter. Democrats have had a number of opportunities to condemn specific comments and have refused to do that. That’s a question you should ask Democrats what their position is since they’re unwilling to call this what it is and call it out by name and take action against members who have done things like this like the Republicans have done when they had the same opportunity.”

Jackson, once again, tried to get a yes or no answer to her question, causing Sanders to claim that she’s already answered her question twice. After one more try, Sanders said that that’s a question “you ought to ask the Democrats.”

After that completely non-sensical reply, Jackson decided to move on to another question.
