Maddow Cruises To Cable News Ratings Victory Friday Night, Hannity Finishes Third

MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show easily led cable news in the ratings Friday, pulling in the most total viewers in all of cable television while reaching the top spot in the key 25-54 demographic in cable news. Fox News, meanwhile, placed first across the board in total day and primetime viewership.

According to Nielsen, Fox News pulled in 2.494 million viewers overall and 436,000 in the key demo during the 8 PM to 11 PM primetime hours. MSNBC averaged 2.268 million total viewers and 367,000 in the key demographic. CNN nabbed a demo audience of 310,000 and 1.141 million total viewers.

In the 9 AM to 5 PM daytime slot, Fox News drew a total audience of 1.553 million and 265,000 demo viewers. MSNBC attracted a total viewership of 1.170 million and 174,000 in the key demo. CNN grabbed 767,000 viewers overall and 184,000 in the 25-54 metric.

Maddow delivered a total viewership of 3.011 million and 497,000 in the key demographic to lead the cable news field. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight finished second overall in both the demo (477,000) and total audience (2.667 million).

Fox’s Hannity, which airs opposite Maddow at 9 PM, took third place in the demographic (445,000) and total viewership (2.530 million). FNC’s The Five placed fourth in total viewers (2.464 million) while Fox’s The Ingraham Angle grabbed fourth in the demographic (381,000).

The top-rated program on CNN was Cuomo Prime Time, which drew 1.254 million total viewers. The 10 PM broadcast of CNN Tonight led in the demo with 344,000,
