Lawrence O’Donnell Wins 10 PM Hour Wednesday Night, Ingraham Finishes Last In Demo

MSNBC continued its strong ratings performance in primetime by leading the 8 PM to 11 PM time period in total viewership and the key 25-54 demographic on Wednesday night. The network’s 10 PM show, The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, led its hours across the board while Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle took last place in the key demo.

According to Nielsen, MSNBC averaged 2.629 million total viewers and 463,000 in the demo during primetime. Fox News drew a demo audience of 438,000 and 2.621 million viewers overall. CNN pulled in a total viewership of 1.334 million and 432,000 in the demographic.

During the 9 AM to 5 PM daytime slot, Fox News led the way with 1.465 million total viewers and 228,000 in the key demo. CNN nabbed 209,000 demo viewers and 880,000 viewers overall. MSNBC captured a total audience of 1.275 million and 191,000 in the 25-54 metric.

Overall, the top-rated cable news show of the day was MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, which led across the board with 3.030 million total viewers and 565,000 in the demo. Fox’s Hannity, which airs opposite Maddow, placed second in total viewership (2.955 million) and third overall in the demographic (460,000).

During the 10 PM hour, O’Donnell averaged a total audience of 2.508 million and 431,000 in the key demo. Ingraham, meanwhile, attracted 2.240 million viewers overall and 416,000 in the demographic. CNN Tonight placed second in the demo with 429,000 while drawing 1.274 million total viewers.

The most-watched CNN program of the day was Cuomo Prime Time, which drew 1.462 million total viewers and 476,000 in the 25-54 demographic. Cuomo also finished second overall in the demo.
