Maddow Most-Watched In Both Key Demo And Total Viewers, Hannity Finishes Third

Once again, MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show was the top-rated program in all of cable news on Monday night, leading in both total viewership and the key 25-54 demographic. Meanwhile, Fox News and MSNBC split in primetime, with Fox coming out on top in total viewers while the ‘Place for Politics’ placed first in the demo.

According to Nielsen, Maddow drew a total audience of 3.011 million and 542,000 in the 25-54 demographic. Maddow’s 9 PM competitor, Fox News’ Hannity, came in third in both the demographic (449,000) and total viewership (2.768 million).

In the primetime 8 PM to 11 PM hours, Fox News averaged 2.515 million total viewers and 416,000 in the key demo. MSNBC captured a demo audience of 420,000 and 2.398 million viewers overall. CNN pulled in 1.035 total viewers and 292,000 in the demographic.

In the daytime 9 AM to 5 PM slot, Fox drew an overall audience of 1.452 million and 239,000 in the demo. CNN attracted 190,000 demographic viewers and 865,000 total viewers. MSNBC nabbed a total viewership of 957,000 and 138,000 in the 25-54 metric.

Fox’s Tucker Carlson Tonight finished second overall in both total viewers (2.775 million) and the demo (465,000). FNC’s special broadcast of George H.W. Bush’s arrival ceremony in Washington placed fourth in total viewership (2.695 million) while MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell took fourth place in the demographic (375,000).

The most-watched broadcast on CNN was the 5 PM hour of the Situation Room, which aired the arrival ceremony. That hour drew 1.490 million total viewers and 329,000 in the key demo.
