Maddow Continues Winning Streak On Thursday, Tops Cable News In Demo And Total Viewers

Following the midterms, MSNBC and CNN have closed the gap with Fox News in the ratings and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show has surged back to the top of the heap. Thursday night continued the primetime progressive star’s winning streak.

According to Nielsen, Maddow was the most-watched show in all of cable and led cable news in both total viewership (2.952 million) and the key 25-54 demographic (523,000). Maddow’s 9 PM competition and reigning ratings king, Fox’s Hannity, placed third in total viewers (2.733 million) and in the demo (453,000).

In the primetime 8 PM to 11 PM hours, Fox News averaged 2.582 million viewers overall and 436,000 in the key demo. MSNBC pulled in a demo audience of 393,000 and 2.322 million total viewers. CNN attracted a total viewership of 1.123 million and 353,000 in the 25-54 metric.

During the daytime 9 AM to 5 PM slot, Fox drew 1.570 million total viewers and 302,000 in the key demo. CNN averaged 206,000 demo viewers and a total audience of 925,000. MSNBC captured 1.095 million overall viewers and 168,000 in the demographic.

Fox’s Tucker Carlson Tonight placed second overall in total viewership with 2.750 million. FNC’s Special Report with Bret Baier finished second in the key demo (509,000) and fifth in total viewers (2.558 million).

The top-rated program on CNN was Cuomo Prime Time, which drew 1.196 million total viewers and 373,000 in the demographic.
