Megyn Kelly Apologizes To NBC Colleagues For Blackface Comments: ‘I Am Sorry’

Following her comments during a segment on culturally inappropriate and offensive Halloween costumes in which she wondered aloud if blackface was racist, NBC’s Megyn Kelly sent an internal email apologizing to network colleagues after her remarks set off a firestorm of controversy.

“One of the wonderful things about my job is that I get the chance to express and hear a lot of opinions,” she said in the email. “Today is one of those days where listening carefully to other points of view, including from friends and colleagues, is leading me to rethink my own views.”

Below is the whole text, via CNN’s Tom Kludt:

After noting that she told the panel that she felt it was “okay” for white people to wear blackface if they were doing it as a character, she stated that she has realized she was incorrect.

“I realize now that such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry,” the former Fox News host wrote. “The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep.”

She concluded by stating that she’s never been a “‘pc’ kind of person,” but she understands now the need to be more sensitive about race in this “day and age.”
