Melania Trump Reveals That She Wore ‘I Really Don’t Care’ Jacket To Own The Libs

In her interview with ABC News that aired on Friday night, First Lady Melania Trump admitted she intentionally wore the infamous “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” jacket while on her way to see detained migrant children who had been separated from their families in June.

As you may recall, Mrs. Trump created a firestorm of controversy over wearing the jacket as she boarded a plane to fly to the U.S.-Mexico border to visit the children separated by her husband’s “zero tolerance” policy. The first lady also wore the jacket on her flight back home following the visit.

Asked by Tom Llamas why she wore the jacket, Trump said that “it’s obvious” she didn’t “wear the jacket for the children.” Instead, she wore it to go on and off the plane to send a message to “the people and for the left-wing media who are criticizing me.”

Yep, she’s saying she did it to own the libs.

“I want to show them that I don’t care,” she added. “You could criticize whatever you want to say, but it will not stop me to do what I feel is right.”

After Llamas wanted to verify that she was indeed sending a message with the jacket, the first lady said she put the jacket back on after the visit “because I see how media got obsessed about it.”

“They got so obsessed and I said you know what, that’s what I’m talking about,” she concluded. “I would prefer they would focus on what I do and on my initiatives than what I wear.”

While Mrs. Trump is acknowledging now that she wore the jacket on purpose to make a point, the White House and the first lady’s press secretary said back then that she was doing no such thing. In a statement to the press in June, Stephanie Grisham said it was just “a jacket” and there “was no hidden message.”

Meanwhile, her husband at the time did say she was taking shots at the “Fake News Media” because she learned “how dishonest they are.”
