Tucker Carlson: Protesters Aren’t ‘Children Of The Working Class,’ They’re ‘Kids Of Orthodontists’

While promoting his new book on colleague Neil Cavuto’s show, Fox News host Tucker Carlson decided to make his anti-elite case by claiming that those demonstrating against Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation weren’t working class but were instead the children of highly-paid professionals.

While discussing the themes of Ship of Fools and stating that the Trump political revolution was bipartisan and a reaction to the elites of Washington and New York, Carlson then referenced the anti-Kavanaugh protests that were going on at that very moment.

“You can see in the protests, these are not the children of the working class,” he insisted. “These are not people that took off time from school to go protest and block traffic. They’re the kids of orthodontists and lawyers and sort of professionals.”

That is…oddly specific.

Cavuto then went on to ask Carlson what was driving the protesters while noting that elections have consequences and Trump won. Rather than answer that question, Tucker instead responded by continuing to talk about the themes of his book, stating that “the volatility is being driven by economic factors” and that it has nothing to do with race but about folks’ fears that their kids will be poorer than them.

This caused Cavuto to joke that Carlson shouldn’t leave his kids “a penny,” leading Tucker McNear Swanson Carlson — who last year inked an eight-figure deal to write two books — to seemingly cry poor in a potential attempt to present himself as working class.

“I’m not going to — spending it in Barbados,” he told Cavuto. “But no, I work in cable. I have no fortunes.”

Besides his lucrative book deal and Fox News contract that pays him in the millions, Carlson’s stepmother is an heiress to the Swanson frozen food empire.
