Trump Boasts About Kim Jong Un, Blasts The ‘Deep State’

President Donald Trump started his day today by tweeting about North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. As news media and the public speculate about the identity of the writer who penned yesterday’s explosive NYT op-ed, the President took time to thank the young dictator for his support.

“Kim Jong Un of North Korea proclaims “unwavering faith in President Trump.” Thank you to Chairman Kim. We will get it done together!” Trump tweeted.

Trump also attacked the so-called Deep State and teased ‘declassification’ to find what he called ‘corruption.’

“The Deep State and the Left, and their vehicle, the Fake News Media, are going Crazy – & they don’t know what to do. The Economy is booming like never before, Jobs are at Historic Highs, soon TWO Supreme Court Justices & maybe Declassification to find Additional Corruption. Wow!”

Trump’s decision to tweet about the North Korean leader seems odd in the present climate. While Kim has pledged to ‘denuclearize‘ his country by the end of Trump’s first term, experts have serious doubts about his honesty and Trump’s talks with Kim have been widely panned. Many commentators have pointed out that the term ‘denuclearization’ is too vague to be a real commitment.

Meanwhile, the President is mired in the latest controversy surrounding the anonymous NYT op-ed. Though there are no strong indications about who wrote it, the claims in the article have created a potential constitutional crisis. The article, in combination with excerpts from Bob Woodward’s new book, paint a picture of an administration in chaos, where top officials frequently circumvent Trump’s will.

Trump sent some angry tweets last night, even claiming that op-ed could amount to treason. It is likely the search for the author will begin in earnest today, but if the claims in the article are true, there is a concerted effort to defy the President, which may make finding the source impossible.
