Trump Claims Google Is ‘Rigged’ Against Him, Suggests It’s Illegal

The President of the United States has claimed that Google is biased against him and conservative news. Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday about Google search results and complained that the ‘fake news’ is featured prominently.

“Google search results for “Trump News” shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal?” Trump tweeted.

“96% of[ ….] results on “Trump News” are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”

It is extremely unlikely that Google is suppressing results from conservative news outlets. While President Trump has labelled much of the mainstream media as ‘fake news’, independent analysis of news coverage does not agree with him. The President has previously suggested that Facebook is suppressing conservative news – an unfounded conspiracy theory promoted by Trump supporters Diamond and Silk.

It is also unlikely that Trump will take any action to address his ‘very serious situation.’ Previous comments about ‘fixing’ social media and news have yielded no results. Trump’s tweets do raise an interesting question, however: Is the President googling himself and how often does he do it?
