Fox’s Katie Pavlich: Ocasio-Cortez Barred Press From Town Halls Because She’s Likely Harboring Illegal Immigrants

If there is one thing we’ve learned over these past few weeks, it is that Democratic Congressional nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become the person conservative media loves to hate. Following the 28-year-old democratic socialist’s shocking primary win earlier this summer, AOC has become the favorite target of the right, what with right-wing sites devoting pages of content to slamming her and conservative celebrities demanding that she debate them.

During Monday’s broadcast of Fox News’ Outnumbered, the panel spent a segment railing against the apparent Next Big Thing of the Democratic Party, focusing on the recent criticism she’s received for barring the press from two town hall events.

“She said we have a high degree of immigrants in my district,” #OneLuckyGuy Charles Payne stated during the discussion. “And afraid of the press? Are you kidding me? That is who you go to if you are really worried. I think she was protecting one person. Her. She can’t get her act together and she can’t articulate her own message.”

Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich — one of the right-wing media stars who has challenged Ocasio-Cortez to a debate — seized on AOC’s excuse that she prevented the media from entering the events because of the high immigrant population and desire to protect vulnerable residents, suggesting that this was really about providing a safe space to undocumented immigrants.

“She says 50 percent of the community are immigrants,” Pavlich declared. “But at the same time she doesn’t want to let anyone in to meet who these people are which signals to me they are illegal immigrants and they are harboring them and they don’t want the press to expose they are here illegally.”

Host Melissa Francis immediately jumped in, telling Pavlich that this “is what [Ocasio-Cortez] wants you to say” while warning the Fox panelist about the “trap you are falling into.”

“This is an excuse and she is throwing it out there,” Francis continued. “But it’s so cheap and tawdry to say I’m trying to protect the victims of abuse because she can’t stand up to the press. Remember Hillary Clinton wouldn’t come to the front of the rope line and wouldn’t answer questions and stayed 100 feet back for a while? She is taking a page from Hillary.”
