FBN’s Trish Regan: Government Ripping Migrant Children From Parents Is ‘Tough Love’

While members of the Trump administration had been bouncing back and forth over whether the “zero tolerance” immigration policy is being used as a deterrent against asylum-seeking migrants, it appears that after Attorney General Jeff Sessions explicitly called it a deterrent Monday night the dye has been cast. And during Tuesday’s broadcast of Fox News’ Outnumbered, guest co-host Trish Regan defended the policy by saying this is the result of a “tough love environment.”

With #OneLuckyGuy Pete Hegseth saying the policy of separating migrant children from their parents is “defensible” because they will eventually be reunited and they are being “fed well,” co-host Melissa Francis noted that she would be “hysterical” if someone took her child from her. Hegseth responded to that saying Americans who break the law and go to jail are separated from their kids every single day.

Regan then jumped in to give her take, stating it is up to America to give the “right kind of incentive” to immigrants seeking to come to America, adding that “people are willing to break the law” to come here because it is a land of opportunity.

“Well, if they know that they’re gonna run the risk of being separated from their child for an indefinite amount of time,” she said, “maybe they rethink that.”

The Fox Business host continued, “So maybe it is a kind of tough love environment where the US government is saying, ‘You know what? You do something illegally and you’re not going to be rewarded for it.'”
