Right-Wing Media Predictably Jumps All Over Bill Maher For Saying ‘Bring On The Recession’

During his HBO broadcast Friday night, Real Time host Bill Maher provided easy outrage fodder for the Conservative Entertainment Complex when he declared during a panel discussion that he was “hoping” for a recession in order to get rid of President Donald Trump.

“So please, bring on the recession,” the comedian exclaimed. “Sorry if that hurts people, but it’s either root for a recession or you lose your democracy.”

And just like clockwork, right-wing media figures latched onto those comments and expressed indignation and resentment while claiming Maher’s remarks spoke for the left and Democrats as a whole.

During Saturday morning’s Fox & Friends, all three co-hosts took turns taking shots at Maher. Pete Hegseth stated that Democrats are “almost rooting for any bad number they can, because if it’s not bad then it helps Trump.” Abby Huntsman asked if that’s what Democrats needed to win while Griff Jenkins highlighted that Maher’s audience applauded his comments, saying that it was representative of liberals’ attitudes towards the president.

One-time Fox News host and wannabe Trump administration official Eric Bolling also directly tied Maher to Democrats, stating that this was all part of “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME” and perhaps the party’s slogan should be “Making America Terrible Again.”

Bolling also offered to meet Maher to help him with his Trump Derangement Syndrome.

TPUSA founder and current Kanye West superfan Charlie Kirk claimed the “left would like to America fail just so they can blame Trump for the suffering.” (Direct quote, so blame Charlie for the awful syntax.)

Fox Business host Charles Payne tweeted something about mainstream news and how the reporting and commentary is about “trying to create universal fear.”

Former respected actor and current right-wing Twitter troll James Woods called Maher’s remarks the #ApexOfLiberalSanity.

Twitchy gave us the most Twitchy headline yet:

And besides these reactions from right-wing celebrities, there were also the inevitable crfitical write-ups in conservative outlets like Breitbart, FoxNews.com, IJR and TheBlaze.

Just wait until the primetime Fox News lineup gets a crack at Maher’s remarks.
