Donald Trump Calls Bill Clinton ‘The Greatest Single Abuser Of Women In The History Of Politics’

In what many commentators consider a new low for the Donald Trump campaign, the GOP candidate has officially launched his attack on Hillary Clinton’s marriage. Trump threatened to bring up President Bill Clinton’s affairs in Monday’s debate and now he has started discussing what he calls ‘Bill’s women’.

“Hillary Clinton was married to the single greatest abuser of women in the history of politics,” Trump told the New York Times. “Hillary was an enabler, and she attacked the women who Bill Clinton mistreated afterward. I think it’s a serious problem for them, and it’s something that I’m considering talking about more in the near future.”

Bill Clinton has a long history of marital infidelity, which grassroots campaigners on the right have often used against the Democratic presidential candidate. But no mainstream politician has brought the Clintons’ marital history into the election. Trump first said he wouldn’t bring up President Clinton’s affairs but he has now crossed that bridge.

“When you think of the fact that he was impeached, the country was in turmoil, turmoil, absolute turmoil. He lied with Monica Lewinsky and paid a massive penalty,” Trump said. Bill Clinton faced impeachment after an investigation discovered his affair with a White House intern. The Senate voted on entirely partisan lines, however, and Clinton was not removed from office.

Trump refused to be drawn on his own marital history, though he’s been married three times. “I don’t talk about it,” Trump said. “I wasn’t president of the United States. I don’t talk about it.”
