Master Of Horror Stephen King: A Trump Presidency Scares Me More Than Anything Else

Stephen King has built a career by inventing monsters, supernatural terrors and deranged villains but he revealed in an interview that Donald Trump scares him more than anything else. King, who is a resident of Maine, has criticized the GOP candidate several times already during his presidential campaign.

“A Trump presidency scares me more than anything else,” King said during a Facebook Live interview. “I’m terrified that he’ll become president.” King was giving an interview to the editor of the Washington Post‘s ‘Book World’ and took the opportunity to try and explain Trump’s rise.

“The key chord to all of this is fear,” King said. “We’re afraid the government is going to take away our guns, we’re afraid that Mexico is going to invade the United States, we’re afraid of this, we’re afraid of that, we’re afraid of taxes, we’re afraid of transgender bathrooms — the whole thing. As long as people are fearful, it’s hard to have a rational discussion.”

“I would have laughed three or four months ago, but I think that Trump has a real shot,” King said. “I think that Hillary Clinton has been a lackluster candidate, frankly, and there’s been a sense of entitlement about her campaign like, ‘Ah, it’s my turn and I’m running against a buffoon therefore I am already president.’”

King has previously said that Trump is Cthulhu in disguise, horror writer H.P. Lovecraft’s alien ‘elder god’ and he has consistently criticized Maine Governor Paul LePage for his racially charged language and frequent bizarre outbursts.
