Uncle Joe Hits Trump Where It Hurts, Says He’s Choking On His Silver Spoon

Ah, Joe Biden, what could’ve been.

Many Democrats and progressives have lamented the Vice President’s decision not to run for the White House this year. Last fall, many were trying to urge the veteran politician to make a go of it, feeling like he represented the best chance for Democrats to retain the presidency. His run would have essentially been an extension of the Obama Administration, and considering the general popularity of POTUS, could have made for a fairly easy race.

Alas, it wasn’t to be, as Joe played good soldier and stepped aside to make it easier for Hillary Clinton.  And, after she clinched the nomination in early June following a tough primary with Bernie Sanders, Biden has done his job as campaign surrogate, making the case for a Hillary White House. In doing so, he’s reminded many Dems why they wanted him headlining the ticket.

Biden found himself in the middle of the Rust Belt Thursday morning stumping for Clinton, running mate Tim Kaine and former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, who is running for the Senate this year. Appearing at a campaign event in the Mahoning Valley, Uncle Joe unleashed on Donald Trump, hitting him on his privileged upbringing and life, as well as his inability to relate to the average American worker.

At one point, Biden went full Biden, coming up with a classic Joe putdown.

“This is a guy who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth that now he’s choking on because his foot’s in his mouth — with the spoon.”

The Veep also hammered the real estate mogul for saying American workers are paid too much, being “completely uninformed” on foreign policy and making other countries have real fear if America will keep its word. All in all, this was vintage Joe Biden.

Seeing him lay into Trump like this does make one sometimes wish that he’d thrown his hat in the ring. Considering the issues Hillary has had with trustworthiness, the email saga, right-wing conspiracies seeping into the mainstream conversation and the basic fact that the majority of Americans just don’t like her right now, one does wonder how the race would look if it were Biden’s name on the ballot.

But that wish will just have to stay a wish. In the meantime, we can at least look forward to Biden doing his classic shtick and waylaying Trump until Election Day.
