Here’s The NSFW Trailer For The ‘Bad Santa’ Sequel We’re Getting This November

Giving us Christmas in August, Broad Green Pictures and Miramax dropped the red-band trailer for Bad Santa 2 on Tuesday. The sequel to 2003’s Bad Santa, scheduled for release November 23rd, reunites Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox and Brett Kelly, while bringing on Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks and Oscar-winner Kathy Bates.

Apparently, Willie Soke (Thornton) is back to boozing, fucking and robbing, and he is joined by his old partner Marcus (Cox), who is out of jail after double-crossing Willie in the first film. Thurman Merman (Kelley), who was ‘The Kid’ who saved Willie’s life and helped give him a purpose, is also back.

Looks like the plot now is that Marcus wants to get them back on their original con — playing Santa and his elf to do inside jobs during the holidays. Hendricks is the director of the charity that they’re trying to rip off on Christmas Eve, who you can obviously assume Willie is lusting after. Meanwhile, Bates plays Willie’s mother, who at the very least has the best line in the trailer.

Anyway, I didn’t realize there was much of an uproar for a sequel to a movie that is 13 years old, but here we are. Sure, Bad Santa was critically acclaimed and did decent business back in ’03 ($60 million domestic) but it never really screamed franchise to me. And, in this instance, neither the original director or writers are returning.

But, the first film had a great concept, and it is always nice to have a raunchy holiday film to break up the monotony of all the family-centric pap that fills up the end of the year. So here’s hoping this one turns out to be worth the price of admission. Enjoy the NSFW trailer above.
