Fake Conservatism Explains Trump’s Rise And The GOP’s Fall

There is a difference between conservatism and fake conservative rhetoric designed to disguise a completely different agenda. In reality, the heart of the GOP implosion is a reaction to forcing pro-corporate policies on people who are not corporations.

The 2016 election season is also the manifestation of just how disconnected the Republican Party is from the American electorate. The GOP is still selling trickle-down economics. It doesn’t help anyone but the already rich, and voters in both parties are starting to figure that out. The question is, are they capable of doing anything about it?

Whether Republican Party elites admit it or not, Donald Trump really does represent the part of the GOP base that actually gets out to vote. They are less educated, lower income whites, who are easy to rile. But even among them, there comes a point when economics becomes a bigger voting issue than which bathroom transgender people use.

When people see their money, jobs and opportunities for a better life disappearing, they get mad. When they get really mad, they vote for people like Donald Trump. Not because they’re sure he can solve all their problems single-handedly, but because they are so desperate, they believe that anyone is better than the politicians who have been lying to them for decades.

The reasons behind the rise of Donald Trump are falling on the deaf ears of pseudo policy wonks, like House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), who continues to push the Koch brother’s screw-the-poor agenda, with a smile as phony as his ‘anti-poverty’ plan.

On Monday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump laid out his tax plan ‘vision’ for America. It was the same old garbage so-called conservatives have been selling for years, and it will have the same results. More tax breaks for the rich will explode the deficit, and no one will benefit from them except the already rich. To offset the government controlled transfer of additional wealth to the wealthy, Congress will cut programs that give the working classes economic mobility. It doesn’t take a mathematician to figure out that income inequality is being engineered by tax policy. Republicans call it, helping ‘job creators.’

Reality check: Tax cuts do not increase revenue

If you cut a pie and give half of it away, do you have more pie? No. You just have less pie. If you want more pie, you have to collect the ingredients needed to make more pie. Tax cuts work the same way, despite the political rhetoric that defies basic math.

If Republicans continue to try to scam voters into thinking that trickle-down economics is real, there will be more Donald Trump’s. Con artists come in all shapes, sizes and levels of absurd, including orange.
