Texas Lt. Governor Calls Protesters “Hypocrites” For Running Away From Shooting

Welp, if you were wondering who would be the first one to say Black Lives Matter protesters needed to step in front of the hail of bullets that were rained down on Dallas cops Thursday night, you need look no further.

During an interview on Fox News’ Outnumbered Friday, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick not only blamed the rhetoric of the BLM movement for causing Micah Xavier Johnson to kill five police officers and shoot seven others, but he also labeled protesters that ran away from the bullets “hypocrites,” essentially claiming they should have stayed put and risked getting shot.

Speaking to host Harris Faulkner, Patrick immediately took a combative stance towards protests against police violence towards black people. On Thursday night, demonstrations took place all over the country in response to the Alton Sterling and Philando Caliste shootings earlier this week. In Patrick’s opinion, these protests, along with those that have taken place for the past two years, are spreading unmitigated hatred for law enforcement, and they absolutely need to stop.

“I do blame people on social media with their hatred toward police,” Patrick told Faulkner. “I do blame former Black Lives Matter protests…this has to stop!”

He also highlighted that those in the movement are people “with big mouths [who] are creating situations like we saw last night.” Regarding local police, he stated “we have their back, and I’m sick and tired of those who are protesting our police and putting their lives in danger. ”

But, it was in his claim that protesters are being hypocritical for running from danger and seeking help from police that raised eyebrows.

“All those protesters last night, they turned around and ran the other way expecting the men and women in blue to protect them. What hypocrites,” he exclaimed.

Now, it should be noted that Patrick is the same guy who tweeted “you reap what you sow” after the Orlando shooting, making obvious reference to gays deserving to get slaughtered that night. He’s also pushed Texas to ignore President Obama’s orders regarding transgender bathroom laws.

So, yeah, he’s a first-class culture-warrior asshole, who’s now using BLM as his latest whipping post.
