Bernie Sanders Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Calling Wolf Blitzer ‘Jake’ During CNN Interview

It’s rough running for President, especially when everyone you come across is telling you that it’s over, because, y’know, it is. Apparently, dealing with that day in and day out will lead to you calling someone by the wrong name repeatedly on TV, even after that person has corrected you.

Following up a tense meeting with House Democrats on Wednesday where he was treated to boos for his insistence on taking his campaign to the convention, independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders sat in for an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. Now, we can get into the substance of the discussion, but why do that when all anyone can really concentrate on is the fact that Bernie kept calling Blitzer ‘Jake’ for some reason?

Yep, the 74-year-old Democratic candidate, who finished nearly 4 million votes and 400 pledged delegates behind Hillary Clinton in the primary, wouldn’t stop confusing Wolf for his colleague Jake Tapper. I mean, obviously, the fuzzy-faced, grey-haired, bespectacled pushover is the spitting image of the dark-haired, no-nonsense, smug anchor. At least according to Sanders he is.

The Washington Free Beacon put together a mashup of the interview, showing five times where Sanders called Blitzer ‘Jake,’ including twice after Wolf corrected the Senator.

Now, to be semi-fair to Bernie, he pointed out that he saw a sign in the studio that said Jake, so that was screwing with him. Fine, one can buy that. However, even after he pointed that out, he still kept saying the wrong name when speaking to Blitzer.

Anyway, I already forget what was said in the segment, and if there was anything worthwhile mentioned. (Edit: Just re-watched it. Nope, same old, same old from Bernie.) It will now be used as fodder for the late-night comedy shows.
