Trump Calls Elizabeth Warren ‘Pocahontas’ As CNN Praises Him For Not Using Insult

It has been obvious for some time now that the mainstream media, and CNN in particular, have continuously lowered the bar for Donald Trump when it comes to his behavior and actions. Ever since he secured the GOP nomination ion early May, they have been begging for him to make the so-called general election pivot, in which he’ll appear more presidential and mature.

Therefore, ever single time he acts semi-human, or does something on the outskirts of political normalcy, they seem to jump at the chance to yell ‘PIVOT!’ all in the hopes that they’ll get the horse-race they so desperately crave this time of year. On Monday, we saw that taken to ridiculous lengths by the talking heads at CNN.

Just to set the stage, progressive firebrand Elizabeth Warren appeared with Hillary Clinton at a rally in Ohio Monday morning. And she did what she’s been so very, very, very good at doing lately — she got under Donald Trump’s skin. She tossed zinger after zinger, taking aim at the Orange One, and the crowd just lapped it up. The Massachusetts Senator did this with the full knowledge that Trump would go right after her because he wouldn’t be able to help himself.

Now, prior to the rally, Trump tried to fire a preemptive shot, sending out a tweet where he once again mocked Warren for being “goofy” and for supposedly lying about her Native American heritage.

After the speech, he released a statement calling Warren a sellout, stating that Hillary is just trying to use Warren’s progressive cred to appeal to on-the-fence Bernie Sanders voters who have yet to jump to Clinton’s side.

For CNN’s intrepid political commentariat, that showed some real growth and maturation for Trump? Why? Well, he didn’t say Pocahontas, his racist nickname for Warren, that’s why!

Nia-Malika Henderson, who has apparently learned the great art of ‘both sides-ism’ at the feet of Wolf Blitzer and John King, pointed out how impressed she was with the statement the Trump team released. In response to host Brianna Keilar, who wanted to know if Trump was showing us a more “grown up’ version of himself, Henderson said the following:

“Yeah, this is sort of the mature version of a non-fifth grade version of the “Pocahontas” — what some people think is an insult. Even in his statement, right, he is talking about policy, he is saying she is a sellout to the cause. What happened to the liberal Elizabeth Warren? And so, I do think we are seeing a slow maturation of Donald Trump. Again, he sort of is still doing the same thing calling her goofy, nodding to the heritage. Which is sort of a weird thing, we don’t typically talk about people’s ethnic backgrounds in presidential politics. But, this is where he is.”

See, he’s talking about policy, and only referencing Warren’s heritage and not calling her Pocahontas (but still labeling her goofy), so he’s making the pivot everybody! It’s there for everyone to see!

Except, of course, he did call Warren Pocahontas at pretty much the same time the CNN panel was heaping praise on him for only acting like a junior high bully instead of a fourth-grade one. Per MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson, who spoke with Trump on Monday, noted that the former reality TV star once again used the nickname to describe Warren, and called her a “racist” for lying about being a Native American.

So, yeah, good try, CNN. But stop trying to give the man credit for acting only partially abhorrent, when he’s just going to go all-out within minutes anyway, and make you look foolish for falling for it for the millionth time.
