New Poll Shows 85% Of Hispanics And 75% Of Women Have A Negative View Of Trump

Live by the polls, die by the polls.

Since entering the race for the White House last June, GOP frontrunner and sweaty lump of belly-button lint Donald Trump has seemingly spent the majority of his time talking about how great his poll numbers are. Nary a rally or interview can go by without him spouting off how unbelievable the latest poll looks for him. For some reason, I think he’ll ignore the newest survey released by the Washington Post and ABC News.

As the primary races are taking shape, and Trump is looking more and more likely to be the Republican nominee — or at least the leader in the clubhouse when they get to a contested convention — we’ve seen polling firms start concentrating their efforts on the general election. As Trump continues to run a reality TV show-style campaign, complete with rampant misogyny, racism, xenophobia and childish insults, his favorability among the entire population has plummeted to embarrassing lows.

Thursday’s WaPo/ABC poll, coming on the heels of Trump’s gaslighting of Michelle Fields and his targeting of Ted Cruz’s wife for insults, shows that the vast majority of the country just plain hates the dude. Overall, 67% of the voting public views the celebrity billionaire unfavorably. However, when you look at specific groups, his negative numbers are, quite frankly, unprecedented.

As expected, considering that he keeps insisting that Mexico is going to pay for a wall and Mexicans are rapists, 85% of Hispanics view him negatively. Just as a point of reference, Mitt Romney lost in 2012 largely because he only received 27% of the Hispanic vote. So getting 15% or less from this demographic is already fatal for Trump. But, it gets worse.

Women, who make up a larger share of the voting population than men, just can’t stand the man. 75% of female voters hold a negative view of Trump. 75%! And those numbers don’t even reflect his most recent comments regarding abortion, where he stated that women should face some sort of punishment for receiving them. At this rate, you can see where he gets only 20% of support from American women, especially if he continues to personally attack candidate’s wives, female journalists and other women.

Considering he’s doing this bad with those two groups, you’d think he was making inroads with independents, right? WRONG! 64% of them see him in an unfavorable light. Well, what about his bread-and-butter — white guys. Well, there’s some semi-positive news there. 47% view him favorably. However, he’s still underwater with them, as 51% have a negative view of the real estate mogul.

In terms of other voting groups, 80% of African-Americans, 80% of young adults and 75% of self-described moderates reject The Donald. Hell, even 53% of conservatives have an unfavorable opinion of the guy. Sure, that doesn’t necessarily reflect into a definitive no vote in the general election, but if you’re a Republican and can’t get a majority of conservatives to like you, well…

Anyway, if these numbers continue to hold this way into the Cleveland convention — and there’s no reason to think they won’t — you can guarantee that if Trump doesn’t have 1,237 delegates heading in, the party is going to make damn sure he doesn’t come out with the nomination.
