Male Pundits To Hillary: Honey, Please Smile…And Can You Tone It Down, Please?

Male Pundits To Hillary: Honey, Please Smile…And Can You Tone It Down, Please?

Y’know, I thought we got past this a few weeks ago and that we weren’t going to have to deal with it again. But, I was obviously wrong.

While former Secretary of State and Democratic Presidential frontrunner was delivering a victory speech on Tuesday night after posting big wins in a number of primary states, the only thing on the mind of some male pundits was that she was just too damn loud. And angry.

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough wanted Hillary to put on a happy face since she had just had a good night.

Hmmmm. Your bud Donald Trump also had a good evening on Tuesday. Yet, his speech seemed to be the same typical loud bluster. Why not ask him to smile?

Not one but two Fox News bros decided to comment on Hillary’s shouting and “angry” face because why wouldn’t they, right?

Even Politico’s Glenn Thrush, who really should know better, got in on the action.

Look, we’ve been down this road before. Media figures took a deserved amount of flack last month for criticizing Clinton for being shrill and loud, all while Trump, Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz spend most of their time on the campaign trail shouting out their stump speeches. So, you’d figure we’d not go through this same tired, sexist, exercise a month later.

Criticize Hillary all you want. Talk about her politics. Go after her craven shift to the left to appeal to Bernie voters. Call her out on her flip-flops. That’s all fair game. But if you’re a dude in the media, please realize how misogynistic it sounds to tell a woman to be happy and tone down her voice, especially when there are a bunch of men in this race whose campaigns revolve around being loud and angry.
