Donald Trump’s Impending Presidential Nomination Could Signal The GOP’s Imminent Collapse

Some said it would never happen. Many of us thought the candidacy of Donald Trump was a joke. It appears we were wrong. Sure only four states have held their votes for the Republican nomination, but Donald Trump has already won three of those states and in a week when Super Tuesday happens he will likely win many more.

He doesn’t have to win every state from this point on, but as he keeps winning states his strength in the process and the feeling of inevitability grows. People always want to pick the winner, so those who vote in the primary after these early states, may throw their votes toward Mr. Trump just for that reason alone, or pick one of the rivals as a protest. However, most people will begin to coalesce behind the person they believe is going to be the eventual nominee.

Right now, that looks to be Donald Trump. Sure, Ted Cruz won Iowa, and Marco Rubio appears to be strong. The problem with Mr. Rubio though is that he has yet to win a single state. Some people are discounting that fact and trying to convince themselves and others that Trump can still be beaten if only it becomes a two man race, hopefully between Trump and Rubio.

Unfortunately, South Carolina and Nevada are the real indicators of where the Republican Party are heading, and they both overwhelmingly chose Donald Trump. In fact, South Carolina gave all 50 of its delegates to Trump. He won in every conceivable way possible. Even in Nevada where there is a larger Hispanic population, Trump won by a large margin.

That should worry not only the other Republican candidates and party affiliates who will be running lower on the ticket this fall, but the entire party as a whole. Sure, you may look across the demographic spectrum of Trump’s victories in these states and say he can appeal across racial, gender, and political lines, but in the end you are going to be wrong.

The primaries are only represented by those who choose to be Republicans, or independents that usually align with them politically. When you head out into the general election, Donald Trump, like the Democratic candidate, will face the totality of the people. At that point, all of his racist and sexist comments will flood the airwaves day and night. Sooner or later people will also start to bring up just how much Trump aligns with Hitler.

All of these detractions of your headline candidate are going to tar and feather your entire party. Toss in the massive amount of obstruction you plan to throw in the face of the President this year about Guantanamo, immigration, climate change regulation implementation, and the Supreme Court nomination and it may truly show the American people what your party is all about. Other than that, do you really think Donald Trump won’t say something completely incendiary again before the election to offend another important group in America?

Depending upon who ends up winning the Democratic nomination, this could be the most hate filled and mud-slinging election we have seen in recent memory. It may also see the greatest voter turnout in recent memory as well. Why? People may come out in droves just to make sure that the person they hate most doesn’t get to be President. If that happens to be Donald Trump, the entire Republican Party is likely to suffer right along with him. In which case it couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of people.
