Just Six Months Ago, Donald Trump Said That Bill Clinton Was His Favorite Ex-President

Since announcing his candidacy for the White House back in June, former reality TV star Donald Trump’s campaign strategy has been to personally attack the opposition, whether it be fellow GOP candidates, the incumbent President or those in the media who don’t treat him “fairly.” Lately, as he has cemented his position as the Republican frontrunner, he has concentrated his attention on presumed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. And in doing so, he’s focused much of his vitriol towards a man he used to gush over — former POTUS Bill Clinton.

Seeing that the popular ex-President was prepping to hit the campaign trail to stump for his wife, The Donald started lobbing grenades at Bill, labeling him “one of the great women abusers of all time,” among other things. At the same time, Trump has been calling Hillary an “enabler” of her husband’s abuse, essentially trying to frame the Clintons as some rape-happy couple and Hillary as a hypocrite when it comes to women’s rights.

However, it wasn’t all that long ago when the Trumpster was fawning over Bill Clinton. Sure, immediately after Trump started criticizing Bill over his infidelities, many in the media countered with footage of him dismissing the Monica Lewinsky affair in 2008, following Hillary’s first run at the White House. Excerpts from other interviews and books from the late ’90s and early ’00s also popped up, showing Trump as a defender of Mr. Clinton. (And let’s not even get into the fact that the celebrity billionaire invited the Clintons to his third wedding.)

The thing is, they didn’t even have to go that far to show Trump’s hypocrisy and flip-flopping. The day after he announced he was running for President, Trump sat down for an interview for MSNBC’s Morning Joe and revealed that, out of the last four occupants of the Oval Office, Bill Clinton was his fave. He pointed out that if Clinton hadn’t met Lewinsky and various other “semi-beautiful women” his presidency would have been seen in a much better light.

During a panel segment following a Trump interview on Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s New Day, co-host Alisyn Camerota brought up this little tidbit to Trump sycophant Jeffrey Lord. In his typically idiotic fashion, Lord said that we are now in a culture where rape is not acceptable — like that just changed over the last few months — and that is what Trump is trying to highlight with Bill Clinton. To her credit, Camerota kept peppering Lord, asking him why Trump had no problem with the former POTUS just six months ago but now it is an issue.

Of course, if this were any other candidate, something like this would pretty much destroy his campaign. But, this is Donald Trump we are talking about. His supporters like him not in spite of these things, but because of them. He can say and do anything and it doesn’t matter. His cravenness, inconsistency and douchebaggery are seen as virtues to his fans. As long as he keeps saying blatantly racist, sexist and bigoted things, they will follow him to the ends of the earth.
