Fox News Host Says We Need To Defund Science Programs If We Want To Have Paid Family Leave

Whenever there is a generally unpopular position Republicans find themselves in, they can always rely on Fox News host and full-fledged Obummer hater Andrea Tantaros to come to their defense. Lately, newly elected Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) has found himself in a bit of a pickle over his demands for more time to spend with his family. While it is admirable, I guess, for the well-heeled Congressman to make time to travel back to Wisconsin every week to see his wife and kids, he also opposes working Americans being provided paid time off to deal with their own family situations. This has caused him to be called a hypocrite, among other things.

Anyway, during Monday’s broadcast of Outnumbered, Tantaros disagreed with #OneLuckyGuy Peter Johnson, Jr. after he said that the cost of the proposal, roughly $1.50 a week split between workers and employers, was worth the ability of families to be paid after childbirths or other situations that might arise. In fact, Johnson made the case that conservatives should be on board a proposal like this as it would allow women a greater economic ability to have children rather than abortions.

However, in TantarosWorld, the goddamned liberals have just made it impossible for us to do anything like this. She agreed with Ryan that we can’t have yet another entitlement on the books in this country. However, she said she could possibly support something like this if we got rid of a bunch of regulations as well as cut science spending. Of course, less than 1% of the United States budget goes toward scientific studies and research.

ANDREA TANTAROS: Everything that progressives push for sounds great in theory but there’s always the question of who is going to pay for it. So while I do think it is important that families are together, I think a lot of the cultural erosion that we’ve seen comes from the breakdown of the family, I have friends who are small business owners. And it’s tough to put these mandates on them when they’re having trouble with all the other onerous rules and regulations that they’re facing from the government. So, again, the road to Hell is always paved with good intentions. But Sandra, we covered this topic earlier, we’re bankrupt as a nation. Maybe take the shrimp off the treadmill. Stop funding those stupid studies we’re funding. Stop funding all these other programs and prioritize if this is something that’s important to the American people.

The shrimp treadmill thing is something Fox has harped on for years. In reality, the study cost taxpayers no more than $47, not the millions conservatives have claimed.

  1. How anyone could throw stones at Fox News when MSNBC has a three-ring circus going on constantly is beyond me. And, as for the shrimp treadmill thing, get your head out of the sand. The money-hungry liberals are spending money on many things that do nobody any good. I don’t always agree with what I hear on Fox News, AND I have to say that time spent watching MSNBC is time wasted. Especially so if Rachel Maddow is on. And, no I’m not homophobic. I just think she is a nutcase, much in the same way that you libs believe Andrea Tantaros to be.

  2. Jen. Just because you believe something, doesn’t make it true. People throw stones at FOX and rightfully so. They lie about pretty much everything. All of the mainstream media is owned by Capitalists and therefore is Right-Wing. The media is owned by the rich that use it to spread propaganda. We the people must take everything that they say with a grain of salt. Read between the lines and figure out what they’re not telling us and why. #Feelthebern
