Mike Hucakbee Still Loves The Duggars, Says “18 Out Of 19 Kids Turned Out Pretty Darn Well”

During an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood that aired Friday, former Fox News personality and current longshot Republican Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee reaffirmed his everlasting love for the Duggar family. In response to a question from Harwood regarding the scandals that have plagued eldest son Josh over the past year, the ex-Arkansas Governor pointed out that the rest of the 19 kids of Jim Bob and Michelle have “turned out pretty darn well.”

In that segment of the interview, it was apparent that Harwood wanted Huckabee to admit to his own hypocrisy when it comes to embracing a family whose controversial lifestyle — which led to a hit television series — may have caused Josh’s sexual repression to come out in awful ways, all the while disparaging the LGBT community every single chance he gets. The CNBC host pointed out that the Huckster said in the past that the Duggar clan was “a model of the country” and if he regretted saying that. Of course, Huck saw nothing wrong with those statements.

See, in his mind, they have a pretty good percentage because only one child turned out to be a sexual predator who is also a hypocrite of the highest order. As far as we know, the rest of the children — brought up in a strict fundamentalist household where their mother was just used as a sperm receptacle and baby incubator — totally came out normal.

It didn’t take long for Harwood to get to the point of bringing up Huck’s continual defense of the Duggars. While the bass-playing pastor said he doesn’t excuse anything Josh has done in the past, he doesn’t feel you can paint the whole family over what one person does. Harwood used this to ask him if that makes him a hypocrite considering that he constantly disparages those who support gay rights and gay marriage, as well as those actually in the LGBT community.

Of course, Huck didn’t see it that way. In his mind, he has never said anything bad about any gay, lesbian or transgender person. He just supports what he’s read in the Bible and believes marriage is between a man and a woman. Yes, he seriously said this. The same person who compared same-sex marriage advocates to Nazis, feels all icky when thinking about gay relationships, wanted AIDS patients quarantined and isolated and directly compared homosexuality to pedophilia thinks he’s never said anything bad about gay people. OK, Huck. OK.
