Check Out The First Full-Length Trailer For The Upcoming Jesse Owens Film ‘Race’

On Wednesday, Focus Features released the first trailer from their upcoming movie on Jesse Owens, the black Olympic champion who went into Nazi Germany and came away with four gold medals in 1936. Race is scheduled for nationwide release on February 19th and stars Stephan James as Owens. The young Canadian actor turned heads last year for his portrayal of civil rights icon John Lewis in Selma.

John Sudeikis co-stars as Owens coach Larry Snyder, a bit of a departure for the former Saturday Night Live funnyman. William Hurt, Jeremy Irons and Carice van Houten (as Leni Riefenstahl) round out the cast. Stephen Hopkins (The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, Under Suspicion) directs a script written by Joe Schrapnel and Anna Waterhouse.
