Fox News’ Eric Bolling Thinks It’s Totally Fine That Martin Shkreli Jacked Up Price Of AIDS Drug

Over the past couple of days, Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO and insufferable douchebag Martin Shkreli turned himself into the most hated man in America by purchasing the patent for a drug used by AIDS and cancer patients and raising the price by 5,500% overnight. The drug, Daraprim, has been around for sixty-two years and is largely used to treat parasite infections that affect the immune systems. Apparently, the patent ran out on it, and the former hedge-fund manager swooped in and snatched it for his start-up company, all so he could raise the price from $13.50 to $750.

During Tuesday’s broadcast of Fox News’ The Five, the panel decided to discuss Shkreli’s newfound infamy over the price-gouging. And wouldn’t you know, renowned heartless prick Eric Bolling came right to his fellow dudebro’s defense. Bolling, a former day trader, told the rest of the panel that they shouldn’t be too judgmental when it came to Shkreli since they didn’t know all the ins and outs of what drug companies need to go through when it comes to research and development and governmental regulations.

Of course, that wasn’t the real reason why he stood up for the skeevy motherfucker. It didn’t take long for him to show his hand as he brought up the free market and how Shkreli was just taking advantage of it in order to make as much money as possible. He also warned about letting the government get involved in helping set prices of drugs, as we cannot mess with the infallible market. This then led to a discussion amongst the group, which if you’ve ever watched The Five, went pretty much as you’d expect.

Ex-Dubya press secretary Dana Perino used her moment to rail against Hillary Clinton and Obamacare because why the fuck not. Human-weasel hybrid Greg Gutfeld said that we would be a lot better off if we just got rid of the FDA and other government regulations so drug companies didn’t have to spend a lot of money on R&D. Token ‘liberal’ Juan Williams spoke up just so Bolling could yell over him and tell him how wrong he is about everything.

Shortly after The Five aired Tuesday, Shkreli announced that his company would reduce the price of Daraprim in the wake of all the negative attention he and Turing had received this week. He told ABC World News Tonight that he isn’t sure what the new price would be yet. He did state that it will be in a range to allow Turing to turn a small profit.
