Back In 2012, Donald Trump Claimed Romney Lost Election Because He Was Hostile To Hispanics

You can’t make this up if you tried. On Thursday, MSNBC’s Benjy Sarlin highlighted an interview that current GOP Presidential frontrunner and supposed multi-billionaire Donald Trump gave to right-wing media outlet Newsmax shortly after the 2012 general election. During the interview, Mr. Mexicans Are Rapists blamed Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s loss on his policy of self-deportation in regards to illegal immigration. He also stated that Republicans had nothing to offer to Latinos and Asians based on their “mean-spirited” tone on immigration.

Speaking with Newsmax’s Ronald Kessler, Trump not only pointed out that Republicans and Romney were hostile to ethnic groups with large immigrant populations, but that the Democratic Party was nice to Asians and Hispanics. He also claimed at that time that he was in favor of a comprehensive immigration policy.

“Republicans didn’t have anything going for them with respect to Latinos and with respect to Asians,” the billionaire developer says.

“The Democrats didn’t have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren’t mean-spirited about it,” Trump says. “They didn’t know what the policy was, but what they were is they were kind.”

Romney’s solution of “self deportation” for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says.

“He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal,” Trump says. “It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote,” Trump notes. “He lost the Asian vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country.”

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy “to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country,” Trump says.

Jump ahead to 2015, and The Donald has pushed himself to the front of a crowded GOP field by labeling Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug dealers, and claiming that he will build a huge wall across the entire southern border to keep them all out. At the same time, he’s lost numerous business partners and endorsement deals over his xenophobic remarks.

As stated above, Sarlin discovered this interview and tweeted it out on Thursday.

The question is, if this is mentioned to Trump, what would his reaction be? He wouldn’t care, honestly. In his opinion, he’s going to win the Latino vote because he’s going to give them jobs because he’ll be the greatest jobs President in the history of the universe. Anyone bringing this crap up is a loser who is just scared of the awesomeness that is Donald Trump. The Mexicans love him and he loves them. Just like he is cool with the blacks.
