Majority of Voters Favors Next President Choosing Supreme Court Justice, Poll Shows

A New York Times/Siena College poll of likely voters taken over the past week found that only 41 percent believe President Trump is right to nominate Amy Coney Barrett as the next Supreme Court justice before the election.

According to the poll, more than half — 56 percent — agreed that the winner of the upcoming election should appoint the replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Additionally, 62 percent of women, 63 percent of independents and 60 percent of college-educated white voters oppose filling the seat before a winner is known.

Nationally, Biden is leading Trump by eight points, 49 percent to 41 percent, according to the poll, which surveyed 950 likely voters between Sept. 22 to 24.
