Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: Maybe Trump’s Election Delay Idea ‘Sobered People Up’ to Mail-In Ballot Fraud

Fox & Friends downplayed the ongoing furor about President Donald Trump’s suggestion to delay the election on Friday morning. Fox News’ host Brian Kilmeade framed the move – which caused outrage and condemnation across the political spectrum – as just a trick to get attention for mail-in voter fraud, which does not exist.

Kilmeade showed a clip of Trump on Thursday appearing to double down on postponing the election.

“President Trump defending an earlier tweet floating the idea of postponing the election until the people can, quote, properly, securely and safely vote. He later tweeted it was really about getting the media to pay attention to the problems with mail-in voting.”

Kilmeade then introduced Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, whom Trump has frequently cited approvingly.

“I think he accomplished his goal. We’re all talking about mail-in voting. Do you think he sobered people up to his reality?”

“Yeah. I mean the President was raising the issue of legitimacy in the form of a question for goodness sakes,” Jarrett agreed. “Predictably the media ran around with the hair on fire.

Some of the media whose hair caught fire, in Jarrett’s view, include the conservative National Review and the co-founder of the conservative Federalist Society, Steven Calabresi, both writing scathing op-eds on the matter.

Jarrett went on to argue that voter fraud using mail-in ballots is a major problem, despite broad consensus that the issue is exaggerated and used for partisan gain.
