Fox’s Brian Kilmeade on Trump and Obama Spat: ‘Open Warfare Between the Presidents’

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade framed recent criticisms from the a current and former president as warfare on Monday. The Fox & Friends host waded into the dispute between Donald Trump and Barack Obama by claiming the election was now about the two men – not former VP Joe Biden.

“Now it looks to be, guys, open warfare between the presidents,” Kilmeade said. “President Trump, as you saw with the Gallup poll, up 49%, above what President Obama’s is.”

Kilmeade is referring to a Gallup poll showing Trump with 49% approval – the highest of his presidency. By contrast, Obama’s approval numbers frequently passed 50% and, according to Gallup, neared 60% as he was about to leave office.

“And President Obama using an opportunity yesterday during a commencement address Saturday to take a shot at President Trump. What does that have to do with graduating seniors? So, you know the President’s gonna respond.”

“And essentially his is totally sidelining a guy like, I don’t know, the nominee Joe Biden,” Kilmeade said. “This is gonna be President Obama against President Trump for the 2020 election with the winner … And if the Democrats win it’s gonna be Nancy Pelosi’s presidency.”

Co-host Steve Doocy noted that Biden hasn’t ‘taken the bait’. Biden and Obama reportedly still have a close relationship, with the former president endorsing the presumptive Democratic nominee in recent weeks.
