Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Chides Elderly Lawmakers Concerned about Coronavirus: ‘Get Back to Work’

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade was not impressed with older members of Congress on Tuesday who are worried about catching Coronavirus. The Fox & Friends host told any elderly representatives and senators – and there are many – that they knew the risks when they ran for election.

“You can imagine the frustration of adults who’ve gone to school with, this know this good if not better than these lawmakers and doing nothing but being oppressive in crackdown,” Kilmeade said.

“And as far as Congress goes,  everybody is at risk, if you’re older at risk. If you have underlying conditions you’re at risk. But when you ran for re-election over and over and over again and sometimes won 10 or 15 times or been there 30 or 40 years, as you got up into your 70s and 80s, you had to know the risk of going home and coming back is something that could jeopardize your health.”

“You had to know there could be a 9/11, unexpected event happening from an economic collapse on down. In comes the pandemic and now you say well, it’s too much of a risk for me to go,” Kilmeade said.

“Well, you shouldn’t have run for re-election then. The sanitation workers as anxiously mentioned and other workers that are cleaning up the subways for a lot less money and a lot less glory than you, who were not offered rapid tests like you were, all went back to work.”

“Get back to work. You have to run the country. Unless you really don’t think you are worth that much.”

There are elderly politicians on both sides of the aisle. Both the Republican and Democratic leadership has members in their 70s and 80s.
